Hello Don,

Just a quick note to let you know how the boats turned out.
Summer 2006
As you know it was a bit of a rush getting everything ready in time for our holiday on Lake Powell.  Having built the Trillium earlier in the
year I was able to put the Wanaao together in three weeks of evenings and two weekends.  It's probably a fair bit heavier that it should be
and I could have done this all a lot faster but I wanted to make the boat indestructible.  It has 4 oz cloth on the hull and deck and some
extra cloth on the inside on the floor of the cockpit.  I have done a couple of modest end pours using a mix with glass microbubbles to
thicken and reduce density.  I have some photos to send, unfortunately we were too busy enjoying ourselves to take the definitive picture of the two boats together.

Beth, our 6 year old daughter, was a bit nervous and we didn't really have a lot of time spent just getting her comfortable.  For her first
time in the boat (first time in any single kayak), I did use roof-rack `tie down' straps to put a pool noodle down either side and this made
the primary stability much better and she was noticeably happier.  At one stage we did go through a full self recovery and she managed to do it on her own - which is pretty impressive for a 6 year old.

The Wanaao performed very well and looks great.   It's clear that it requires very little effort at cruising speeds and is ideal for a kid in
that respect.  The Trillium went very well (me, my wife and younger daughter), and with the rudder was a pleasure across the open water.

Spring 2007
We have had our 4 year old daughter Kate in the Wanaao on the pool and she had a great time.  Beth had a two hour lesson at the Southwest Kayak Symposium and is now pretty comfortable without any pool noodles.

I will follow up with some photos.  I know that you went out of your way to make this achievable and I greatly appreciate all your help.

Best regards,
Mike Wynn
