Here's the first photo of my four boats (top to bottom: Solace-18XL, Solace-16XL, and the 2 below are Lightning 17's).
Some day I hope to have them all in the water at the same time, but that's proving to be harder than building them.

BTW, the structure behind is my 'fat fence' kayak shed. Two boats slide in from the left, each bow handle hooked into a roller car on a barn door track (one track per boat). Then the stern handle hooks into the rail. The boats thus hang from their bow and stern. The boats are so light and so stiff that I don't worry a second about hanging them. There's a locking door. I've lined it with tar paper so no light gets in to the boats (I lost a cedar strip canoe due to not refreshing the UV varnish, so now I'm ultra conservative about photons.) The other two boats are hanging in the basement, from a pair of chains hooked into the joists above.

Carl

I've had my L-17 on the water for some time.   I am delighted by her handling, speed and comfort. Given how much I enjoyed building her, it's a bit of a surprise that I enjoy being out in her even more, but I do.  She's a very lovely craft  -  very easy to manage and to trust.   I particularly like how she handles when she's full of camping gear and conditions get a bit rough.   I'll be looking for good blows on big lakes this summer :-)

You'll notice from the photo that I've not put any lines on the deck yet.  I can't bear to cover up all that lovely wood.  I'll be thinking about alternative solutions to covering her with miles of black line.  In fact, I'm looking for something other than black straps for the hatches.  I have to end up with appropriate safety, but I want to keep her as clean as possible.

cheers,
Carl
